Mrs. Vicky Merrick

Vicky was appointed to the FCT Board of Directors in January 2012 after contributing as a volunteer for many years, as well as initiating the Community Recycling (CoRe) Network Programme in Barbados.  A Canadian by birth, she has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ryerson University and a Certificate of Sustainability Education from Algonquin College.

In 2015, Vicky was honoured by the Governor General of Canada by receiving the “Caring Canadian Award” for her 20 years dedicated to the people of Barbados through her environmental teaching with the Future Centre Trust, as well as raising funds for charities with the Canadian Women’s Club of Barbados.

Kammie is the Founder and General Manager of Prudential Financial Sales and Services which provides a range of insurance products to Barbadians and to other islands in the region./div>

As PRO Kammie is also looking to change the habits of his fellow Barbadians and to impress the importance of taking care of our environment. His self recognised affiliation to a Salmon highlights his drive to ‘swim upstream’.

Mr. Barney Gibbs

Barney Gibbs comes to the Future Centre Trust as a ‘social entrepreneur’ with an interest in the natural and built environment.  After completing post graduate studies in Land Economy at Cambridge University, he returned to Barbados to form Environ Ltd – a company building community-based public amenities such as bus shelters, benches, litter bins.

Barney was a co-founder of the Litter Patrol, and has been personally involved in the planting of over 5 000 trees in Barbados and continues to assist the tree planting across the island through Future Trees. He is committed to making the FCT a vibrant and relevant organization, calling all Barbadians to ‘green action’!

Mrs. Vivian-Anne Gittens

Vivian-Anne Gittens was the Publisher & CEO of the Nation Publishing Co. Limited and the CEO of the Nation Corporation. Mrs. Gittens chaired a number of Nation outreach projects including Greening Barbados, and the Healthy Lifestyle Project. Mrs. Gittens retired from the Nation Group in November 2015.

By training, she is a Certified Management Accountant and a Financial Management Consultant. She has worked as a Management Consultant locally and regionally, and as a Project and Investment Analyst with development agencies in the region.

Mrs. Gittens chaired the Public Utilities Board for the last 5 years of its existence and was the deputy chairman of the Fair Trading Commission. She also sat on the Boards of Sagicor Financial Inc. and Sagicor Life Inc. and currently sits on the board of RBC Royal Bank (Barbados) Limited and Aone Supermarkets Limited. She is a Trustee of the Give Back QC Charity.
