Program Coordinator – Ms. Tracey Edwards BSc. (Honors)
Ms. Tracey Edwards has joined as the Program Coordinator of the Future Centre Trust (FCT) from September 1st 2016!
Miss Edwards has over 12 years’ experience in climate change, resource management, disaster risk management, and project management and coordination. She has assisted in designing various research tools and methodologies and conducted several surveys. Miss Edwards has a lengthy track record of collaborating successfully with volunteers and community groups.
Miss Edwards brings to bear her passion for conservation and for the sustainable use of natural resources on the work and mandate of the Future Centre Trust. We envision a bright future with her on our team and we look forward to working with her in spearheading the climate issues and other environmental challenges we face here in Barbados and ensuring we became even better to Educate, Conserve and Protect.
Vicky was appointed to the FCT Board of Directors in January 2012 after contributing as a volunteer for many years, as well as initiating the Community Recycling (CoRe) Network Programme in Barbados. A Canadian by birth, she has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ryerson University and a Certificate of Sustainability Education from Algonquin College.
In 2015, Vicky was honoured by the Governor General of Canada by receiving the “Caring Canadian Award” for her 20 years dedicated to the people of Barbados through her environmental teaching with the Future Centre Trust, as well as raising funds for charities with the Canadian Women’s Club of Barbados.Read More

Barney Gibbs comes to the Future Centre Trust as a ‘social entrepreneur’ with an interest in the natural and built environment. After completing post graduate studies in Land Economy at Cambridge University, he returned to Barbados to form Environ Ltd – a company building community-based public amenities such as bus shelters, benches, litter bins.
Barney was a co-founder of the Litter Patrol, and has been personally involved in the planting of over 5 000 trees in Barbados and continues to assist the tree planting across the island through Future Trees. He is committed to making the FCT a vibrant and relevant organization, calling all Barbadians to ‘green action’!Read More
Cherice joined the team as FCT’s Executive Director after several previous contributions to the FCT during the past four years. Cherice holds a BSc in Psychology (Hons) and an MSc in Project Management and Evaluation which was crucial in this role which is quickly expanded into the realm of project management. Cherice has contributed to several not-for-profit organisations in the past five years and brought these experiences and a personal interest in the environment to the role.
We wish Cherice a farewell as she has left the role as of August 31st 2016 and thus being succeeded by Ms. Tracey Edwards – Program Coordinator. We look forward to watching her grow and blossom into even greater opportunities as she progresses in her career. Vivian-Anne Gittens is the Publisher & CEO of the Nation Publishing Co. Limited and the CEO of the Nation Corporation. Mrs. Gittens chairs a number of Nation outreach projects including Greening Barbados, and the Healthy Lifestyle Project.
By training, she is a Certified Management Accountant and a Financial Management Consultant. She has worked as a Management Consultant locally and regionally, and as a Project and Investment Analyst with development agencies in the region.
Mrs. Gittens chaired the Public Utilities Board for the last 5 years of its existence and was the deputy chairman of the Fair Trading Commission. She also sat on the Boards of Sagicor Financial Inc. and Sagicor Life Inc. and currently sits on the Board of One Caribbean Media Limited and the Nation Publishing Co. Limited.Read More
